Let's go to Kumiodori Workshop in Shurijo Castle

Kumiodori, a traditional performing art that Okinawa is proud of, is a nationally designated Important Intangible Cultural Property and a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Kumiodori was a courtly art performed at Shurijo Castle during the Ryukyu Dynasty to entertain the emissaries of the Chinese emperor.

In order to promote interest in Kumiodori, the National Theatre Okinawa has been holding Kumiodori workshops at Shuri Castle, with which it has a close relationship, since 2023, in cooperation with the Okinawa Churashima Foundation.
In 2024, in cooperation with the Shuri Castle Reconstruction Division of Okinawa Prefecture, we will hold a Kumiodori workshop in conjunction with the Shuri Castle reconstruction event.
