On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, a sanshin (Okinawan three-stringed instrument) music performance will convey the spirit of Uchinanchu (the people of Okinawa) through the music of Ryukyu and Okinawa. The first part will feature Ryukyuan classical music including solo singing by two living national treasures, and the second part will feature a variety of popular songs from the mid-war and post-war periods.
