＜Synopsis.＞

On his way home from a cherry blossom viewing, Yamatu stopped by the river to take a drink of water. There, he fell in love at first sight with Tamatsui, who had come to wash her hair, and Yamatu asked Tamatsui to let him drink from the river water with her hands (an act performed when a man and a woman are to be united in marriage).
Tamatsui refuses, but is overcome by Yamatu's passion and the two fall in love.
One night, Yamatu sneaks into Tamatsui's place in secret and is discovered by the gatekeeper.
The two became the talk of the town, and Tamatsi's father, fearing the damage to his family's reputation, ordered his retainers to execute his daughter.
What will become of their love?
